IT academy held its first session today, led by Ben and Edward.  They taught us how to create word searches using the website www.wordsearchmaker.net  Here is my 2-D shapes word search.  Thank you Ben and Edward!

Techniques to search efficiently:

• Use well known trusted sites – ones you already know about – BBC, enchantedlearning.com, Wikipedia,…
• Use 3,4 or 5 key word in your search – 1 is not smart searching
• Use “for kids” or “ks2” in your search
• Use children’s search engines
• Use CTRL-F to find words in a page

4. After our discussion about searching the Internet efficiently, have a go at the quiz in the post below.  How many answers can you get before the end of the lesson? Put answers in an email and send them to me.

1. Go to Screen-o-matic
2. Watch the short video demo
3. Click on Start Recording
4. You may need to give permission for things to run (Click “Always allow”, tick the “Dpn’t ask me again” and “Run” if you get those messages.  You may have to do this more than once…)
5. Try
   1. recording a section of your screen
   2. playing it back
   3. saving as a video
   4. setting up and using a microphone
   5. other features
6. Now think about an ICT skill that you could teach using a video tutorial
7. Practise the skill, plan how you will teach it, Keep it simple
