• Create, print and cut out a flag to make  bunting for the Queen’s 90th celebration tea party on Friday.
• As a class, put the flags on a string ready for Friday afternoon.
• Find out who is setting up for the tea party and help them put the bunting up

• do another one (There could be one flag on each class string that says, eg “Oak class wish Her Majesty a very happy 90th birthday!”)

National Anthem words

This term, we will be creating animated stories using JIT.  The first stage is learning how to use animate in JIT to move objects around the screen.

1. Log into j2e and click on JIT
2. Watch the first video then have a go
   1. Choose your own background and character
   2. Make sure you move it only a little each frame

j2e has created a new tool,Branch, part of JIT to make branching keys.

• Log into j2e
• Go to “my files” then “shared files”.  Select Woodland Animals or Birds of Prey
• Woodland Animals
• Make sure you are in “advanced” mode
  • Click “sort” then make up Yes/No questions to sort the animals.
  • You could use this information sheet or fact sheets to help you or more detailed information from the Woodland Trust
  • Adding more animals
    • When it tells you that your diagram is complete:
      • Play it to test it out
      • Add a new animal
        • Think of a new animal and play the game and answer the questions
        • At the end say “no” then “yes” (you want to add it to the list)
        • Search using the world button and drag a picture into the box
• Birds of Prey 
  • Use the RSPB website to find a fact about each bird and enter it into the description box.

  • Now make up Yes/No questions to classify the birds in a branching key.

LQ:  How can I contribute to science research?

The Zooniverse provides opportunities for people around the world to contribute to real discoveries in fields ranging from astronomy to zoology.  Here are a few projects to have a go at.

4. For Branch – start with four gods, then use the Play function to add more.

Fieldwork week

Here are some ideas for you to use…

1 Google maps

1. Log into your school Google account and go to Drive
2. Click on NEW then More… the Google My Maps
3. This will create a new map – explore the tools
   1. Add a pin to a location
      1. Give it a name
      2. Attach some information
      3. Can you attach a photo (these need to be online – you attach them by copying a web address)
   2. Add a route – perhaps the walking route you will take to your fieldwork
   3. Add an area

• How will we look after the data?
• What are our responsibilities?
• Do we need to promise anonymity?

log into Google; go to Drive; create a new form; use a range of form tools; publish form on shared document; consider safety and responsibilities; be curious; be sociable

3. Explore as many tools and options as you can, including:
   1. Naming the form
   2. Changing the theme
   3. Trying each question type
   4. Adding sections and titles

Planning your research project

1. Think about what you would be interested in finding out by doing a survey.  I can get children from all year groups to complete the surveys and Year 6 will definitely complete each others’ surveys.
2. Think carefully about:
   1. What questions to ask
   2. Which type of question
   3. What data you want – words, sentences, numbers,…
   4. Do you need names?
3. Design your form and hand it in via Google Classroom

Looking after data – by doing a survey, you have a responsibility to look after people’s information safely.  How do you think you should do this?
