IT academy held its first session today, led by Ben and Edward.  They taught us how to create word searches using the website www.wordsearchmaker.net  Here is my 2-D shapes word search.  Thank you Ben and Edward!

  1. Learning blog
    1. Log into j2e – go to bloggy;
    2. Set up own blog – call it eg “Will J’s learning blog”;
    3. Have a play and explore your new blog;
    4. Write your first post;
    5. Add a page for Computing Colour badges;
  2. Google classroom
    1. Go to school website – children – log ins – Google Classroom
    2. Log in;
    3. Find Computing Colours assignment and have a look;

  • Think up and write down a list of questions before you start looking for information.
  • Write down what you know first.
  • Write information in your own words – don’t just copy and paste.
  • Say where you r information came from – have a slide at the end called “Sources”

  2. Go to Drive
  3. Create a new Google presentation/Google slides
  4. Share with the Group and with me please (so I can comment)
  5. Add a title – a question
  6. Add your names
  7. Add more slides with question titles
  8. Write what you know

Techniques to search efficiently:

  • Use well known trusted sites – ones you already know about – BBC, enchantedlearning.com, Wikipedia,…
  • Use 3,4 or 5 key word in your search – 1 is not smart searching
  • Use “for kids” or “ks2” in your search
  • Use children’s search engines
  • Use CTRL-F to find words in a page
