Y6 How/Why/What do I blog?

J2e

  1. Create a post and submit it to the Year 6 blog. (I probably won’t approve many as I don’t want to bombard the blog – but I do want to see that you can do it.)
  2. Use an iPad to create a quick post using a photo, video or sound recording taken in the j2launch app.
  3. Talk in groups about what to post that shows off your learning.  Post a comment below to share your ideas.
  4. Blogging is about starting a conversation too – how could you use posts and comments from others to enhance learning.

Electricity is a vital part of our everyday lives.  We are completely dependent on it.  We need to know what it is and where it comes from.

Let’s discuss

  • Venn diagram activity
  • Why do some appliances need mains electricity?
  • Why do some appliances run off both mains and battery?
  • What are the advantages/disadvantages of mains/battery power?
  • What is electricity? I think…
  • Where does electricity come from?   I think…

Let’s work together

  • Create a group A2 poster on
    • What is electricity?
    • How do batteries produce electricity
    • What are the main parts of a fossil-fuelled power station?

Y6 How do I make a video tutorial?

Why?
People use video tutorials to find out how to do things on their computers or to learn new skills in a range of areas.

  • What video tutorials have you used before?
  • What could you teach someone via a video tutorial?

How?

  1. Go to Screen-o-matic
  2. Watch the short video demo
  3. Click on Start Recording
  4. You may need to give permission for things to run (Click “Always allow”, tick the “Dpn’t ask me again” and “Run” if you get those messages.  You may have to do this more than once…)
  5. Try
    1. recording a section of your screen
    2. playing it back
    3. saving as a video
    4. setting up and using a microphone
    5. other features
  6. Now think about an ICT skill that you could teach using a video tutorial
  7. Practise the skill, plan how you will teach it, Keep it simple
